Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film School was included in the Hollywood Reporter list of the best global film schools of 2023.
It’s the seventh year in a row that Sam Spiegel is included in the prestigious list, along with film schools in Australia, China, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Austria, UK, Denmark, Czech Republic and Toronto.
The Hollywood Reporter named the school’s new downtown campus, its preparatory program for Arabic speakers from East Jerusalem and its practical approach to filmmaking, with about 75 percent of its graduates employed in the entertainment industry, as part of its educational success.
The listing also pointed to Sam Spiegel’s Series Lab initiative, backed by Netflix and Paramount, and partnering Israeli creators with international television professionals to develop series, as one of its best programs.
Sam Spiegel director Dana Blankstein Cohen said the listing was a tremendous honor for the school.
Blankstein Cohen also mentioned future plans to open the school’s internal movie theaters to the public as an additional cultural center in downtown Jerusalem.
